The BBAB in your living room

Thanks to a recent boost in funding, The British Biscuit Advisory Board (BBAB) has been broadcasting its invaluable safety massages to television viewers around the UK.

Their public service advertisements, created by Mother of London, aim to introduce biscuit sense to every home in the country by covering a range of biscuit safety topics, including education, health, quality control and storage.

First aired on Saturday 19th September 2009 in the commercial breaks of singing contest X-Factor, the BBAB warned the nation of the hidden dangers of biscuits.

One viewer told us, ”It was a refreshing change to see an advert that was both informative and entertaining – and it resonated particularly well in my household as my husband lost his hearing to a biscuit”.

Further BBAB advertisements will be seen by millions of Britons over the coming months in the hope of reducing the worrying biscuit injury figures, which are at present well above the European average.

A BBAB spokesman commented “We want to do what the Government did for wearing seatbelts and drink driving, and make it socially unacceptable to eat or store your biscuits in a negligent or dangerous way. Of course we don’t want to take the fun out of biscuits, but explain that they can be enjoyed in a safe and proper fashion.”
